Small Acts Of Kindness

It's totally true. Small acts of kindness go a long way. When we look back and reflect on moments in life - it's the little things - those little niceties that seem to stand out.
I'm not sure why - perhaps because it's so darn rare to find a kind soul who is willing to extend themselves in grace. In our hurried world, where everyone seems focused on their own journey, genuine kindness feels like finding an unexpected treasure.
I'm certain this is it.
Why else is it so wonderful when someone is kind? Why are we so surprised? Why are we so caught off guard?
Think of the last time someone offered you unexpected kindness - maybe they remembered something important to you, sent a message just to check in, or simply smiled with genuine warmth. How did it make you feel? That lingering glow isn't just your imagination.
I believe much like forgiveness - kindness gives the giver far more than the recipient. The science backs this up too. When we perform acts of kindness, our brains release oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine - creating what researchers call a "helper's high." We're literally wired to feel good when we're good to others.
But there's something deeper happening too. Kindness creates connection. It reminds us that beneath our differences and despite our busy lives, we're all human, all walking similar paths, all hoping for grace.
This week, I challenge you to notice three things: First, the kindness you receive from others. Second, how it makes you feel. And third, the opportunities you have to create that same feeling for someone else.
It doesn't need to be grand - remember, it's the small acts that stay with us. A sincere compliment. A moment of genuine attention. A text that says "I was thinking about you."
In a world that can sometimes feel cold, your warmth matters more than you know.
Something I’ve been doing on a regular basis is letting people with a few items go ahead of me.
It’s incredible how appreciative people are, but I promise I’m getting way more out of it than they are. It feels really good. We get all the warm fuzzy feelings when we’re kind.
So please do a nice and thoughtful thing this week for a loved one or a stranger.
❤️ In Gratitude ❤️
