EMBRACING THE HIDDEN PARTS
Hello Friends,This week, I want to explore how profound self-improvement often happens when we confront what makes us uncomfortable about ourselves. While positive affirmations and productivity hacks serve their purpose, lasting transformation requires facing our "shadow" - those disowned aspects of ourselves we've learned to reject or hide. These shadows aren't inherently negative; they're simply the parts of us that didn't receive acceptance or nurturing. When you find yourself triggered by someone else's behavior, pause and ask: "What might this reaction reveal about my own unacknowledged feelings?" Perhaps your frustration with a colleague's ambition mirrors your own unexpressed desires for recognition. Or your judgment of someone's vulnerability might reflect fears about your own emotional exposure. This practice of shadow work doesn't ask you to change immediately, only to witness with compassion what exists beneath your conscious awareness. | ![]() |
Try This Exercise This Week:Choose one triggering emotion (anger, jealousy, shame) and for three days, track when it arises. Rather than immediately reacting, breathe deeply and ask, "What unmet need is this emotion signaling?" Then journal what surfaces without censoring yourself. This simple practice begins integrating fragmented aspects of your psyche, allowing your energy to flow more freely. Integration doesn't mean perfection - it means wholeness. When we acknowledge our full humanity, including parts that feel unacceptable, we create space for genuine transformation. This inner work naturally extends outward, improving relationships and creative expression. In coming weeks, I'll share resources that support this deeper journey - from transformative books to mindfulness practices that create space for this essential inner work.
